Who I am
Hi! My name is Jodie and I have always been passionate about movement and wellbeing. I grew up dancing and studying the Performing Arts and introduced myself to Pilates at 18. I moved into Outdoor Education and Environmental Studies and reclaimed Pilates whilst raising toddlers. Post children I initially certified with a Diploma as a Classical Pilates Instructor with APEI.
Further studies with Jay Grimes, Sandy Shimoda, Dena Drotar and Ken Krech have deepened my experience and understanding of the original method of Pilates that Joseph Pilates developed called "Contrology - A Mind and Body Conditioning".
I am now dedicated to Contrology as a 3rd Generation teacher. I run my Contrology Studio as Joe did, with Open Studio Workouts, building strong independent clients. I am one of only a handful of studios in Australia that deliver Pilates this way. Joes Method is highly effective and meant to be repeated in the body 2-4 times per week. I support my clients to develop a solid practice with a minimum requirement of 2 classes per week to attend my Studio.
I have more than thirty years experience as a fitness professional, and deeply enjoy helping people discover the power in their own bodies and the joy of movement. Contrology builds a strong, stable and supple body with ease of joint movement. It will improve your posture and balance and develop long lean muscles.

Experience Contrology
If you are interested to learn the Contrology Method of Pilates please get in touch and join the other teachers in studio or online. The minimum requirement is twice a week in the open group workouts plus your own dedicated practice to this method in addition to the classes. It is ideal to repeat the method in your body 3-4 times a week especially in the initial stage of transferring into the method. You have to experience how this method goes into the body and how it therefore changes the body to know what it is and then how to teach it to others. I began teaching Contrology in my Studio in 2020.
“Jodie's classical approach and astute observation of my movements means she goes to great lengths to advise and adjust all exercises to suit my large lists of injuries.."
Kath Dunsmuir, Mirboo North
“I always enjoy my Pilates sessions under the expert guidance of Jodie. The studio is a lovely light-filled space and the equipment is excellent. Tour Our Studio
I opened my own studio in Inverloch 2014. The Method I teach and way I deliver it, is progressive and highly effective. When you begin your Pilates journey with me you will develop a regular Pilates Practice where the minimum commitment is 2 classes per week after completing the Introduction Program. Change happens through repetition so the more you do the method the quicker and greater the change.
I will teach you to strengthen your whole body whilst developing stability and flexibility. The balance of which creates an ease of joint movement, reduces pain, improves posture and balance. Your Classical Pilates practice will further restore vitality and invigorate your mind.
The biggest gain from Pilates, if it's taught from the foundations and principles of Joseph's Pilates, is a strong centre from which to live your life. When your mind and body work together from a strong centre your awareness grows that you have the power within to accomplish your desires.
